[ CSS Zen Garden Submission ]

Imagine if Zen Garden had been created a hundred years earlier, in a time when calligraphy was not only the skill of getting words to paper, but the skill of presenting the written word as art. This entry strives to preserve that time era in a modern (electronic) world, mixing designs and images from previous centuries with modern technology. The beauty of the text is enhanced with an elaborate design, skilfully balanced to enthral the reader.

The main focus is language-dependent styling (spanish, portuguese, italian, german, french, greek, japanese, chinese and korean). The design is optimized for the MOSe-family of browsers, but it has also an elegant fallback to a light-weight black and white design for browsers from the older guard.

CSS is one small step for design, one giant leap for the Web. Rise to the challenge: Not to start from scratch, but to transform old into new. My inspiration comes from everyday moments: The kitchen, the children, an old flagstone, the neighbour's cat and a few other ingredients making for potpourri.

ReStyle, formerly known as the REMIX contest, is a challenge for designers to change the entire look and feel of the MIX home page site using CSS and images of their own.
